THIEF WITH 63 PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS AVOIDS JAIL AFTER IS IS GIVEN 'ONE LAST CHANCE'

A thief with 63 previous convictions avoided a prison sentence after his barrister urged a judge to give him "one last chance."

Drug addict Shaun Anthony Tully, admitted two thefts at the Coast to Coast restaurant, in Highcross, two thefts from Boots, in Gallowtree Gate, and also shoplifting from a city Sainsbury's store, at Leicester Crown Court. His criminal record of 63 offences were mainly theft related, the court was told.

His barrister Michelle Harding urged Recorder Geoffrey Kelly to give the defendant "one last chance" to prove he could overcome his addiction and put offending behind him.
