Eamon McCarthy (20), of Saffron Lane, Leicester, pleaded guilty to stealing two screwdrivers, value unknown, and causing £300 of damage to a security door at B&Q, Leicester, on December 9 2014.

He was given a community order including 40 hours' unpaid work to be carried out within the next 12 months and ordered to pay £30 compensation.

The community order also covered McCarthy's failure to surrender to custody on January 2.
