City Watch Leciester - About Us

City Watch Leicester Against Crime has been helping make Leicester a safer place to work and shop since 1992. Its original name was L.A.R.C's (Leicester Against Retail Crime) but changed to the present name in 2000. We now have over 150 clients and employ two full time staff and two part time staff.

The full time staff deal with Intelligence and Development of the scheme whilst the part time staff comprise of a data analyst and an Evening Economy co-ordinator.

The Evening Economy co-ordinator was first introduced in September 2005 as the leisure side of City Watch - Leicester Against Crime was expanding. This role ensures that all Leisure clients have a point of contact at peak trading times should any issues arise relating to City Watch.

In 2005 City Watch Leicester Against Crime was awarded the accolade of the Home Office "Safer Shopping Award" and in 2006 we received the Home Office "Safer Business Award".

During 2006 / 2007 four clients of the Partnership reduced their stock losses between them by £351,000. One new client was losing stock to the value of £550 per week, since joining this has been reduced to one item after only a month on the scheme.
